Live in the Libraries

Jazz Steps

Our Live in the Libraries is in association with Inspire and jointly we put on quality jazz gigs that are performed at four different libraries each month for two separate seasons.  In 2018, our seventh year of running, we added Beeston Library to the existing roster of Worksop, Southwell and West Bridgford,  Artists perfom on a mini-tour running from Monday to Thursday.  The venues are exellent, providing staging and clear viewing, good lighting and bar facilities - and are differnt to conventional libraries, more like community hubs.

Audiences welcome the convenience of not having to travel far to hear great entertainment, since we bring jazz to local communities.  Having said that, many do travel a distance, especially if their nearest venue gets booked full and they are keen!

We cover a wide range of jazz genres including the classic jazz songbook, gypsy jazz, New Orleans, Big Band and contemporary jazz.  JazzSteps' main roles are to organise the music programming and liaison with artists as well as introducing the bands and assiting with hosting the sessions.  Our volunteers work closely with Inspire staff at the libraries to ensure we jointly provide top quality enteratinment in a welcoming, local setting.

More details on this enduring 'project' to follow in due course.
