Fergus McCreadie's music has a distinct Scottish feel, as you'll gather when hearing his trio perform compositions from his new album Forest Floor.
His music paints pictures of Scottish lochs & Munros (i.e. mountains over 3000 ft) - as well as of images of ceilidhs with the scotch flowing. Grab a wee dram, or your dirnk of choice, from the bar sit back and try to stop your feet from tapping!
A well-rounded musician, Fergus is a passionate communicator and consummate performer. Building on the superlative reaction to his second album Cairn, his latest Forest Floor - released on Edition Records - develops even greater maturity, interaction and vision, while retaining the Scottish folk influences.
LondonJazzNews' review called this, "...contemporary jazz in the EST and BadPlus lineage, suffused in Scottish folk traditions..."
The music is dynamic and it excites with a youthful but masterful flair. Fergus’ compositions move effortlessly from impressionistic modal searchings to high octane, hard-driving jigs and nuanced ballads, underpinned by democratic improvisation.
Recently released on Edition Records, the new album launched on this tour, at the Queen's Hall Edinburgh and at Ronnie Scott's, London. We’re delighted we’ll be hearing the band play live for us at the Bonington!
This is a night you’ll be sure to remember!
