Memorable melodies, adeptly interwoven influences… unhurriedly stylish…” - praise for the this quartet led by saxophonist and Dankworth Prize-winning composer Matt Anderson. His lyrical, original tunes are influenced by his rural Yorkshire roots, Scandinavian jazz and the blues/country strains of American guitarest Bill Frisell. Anderson’s warm tenor sax fronts this stylish quartet with music from their critically-acclaimed CD ‘Rambling’ and recent recordings.

Matt gave an interesting interview on BBC Radio Nottingham about his band's mini-tour to Inspire library venues and said he was aware of the successful decade-long partnership between Jazz Steps and Inspire. Listen again to clip on the Mark Dennison show on BBC Sounds (limited to 30 days from date of broadcast). It's at https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p09yddps - the interview starts at 1hr 25 mins into the programme and lasts for about 5 mins.
Reviews: “The writing on Rambling is outstanding: varied and imaginative... There's a beautiful warmth to Anderson's sound that suffuses the whole album.” Jazzwise Magazine
“Memorable melodies, adeptly interwoven influences… unhurriedly stylish... (Anderson) can deliver an ear-catching tenor sax flourish, but knows the value of understatement and uses it well. This is solidly-crafted small group jazz that knows its history, but wears its learning lightly.” London Jazz News
