Stan Tracey undoubtedly was an outstanding figure in the jazz world. His distinguished career spanned six decades of flourishing creativity and his band at the time played the very first Jazz Steps gig at the Bonington Theatre 20 years ago. This session, led by his son Clark, celebrates his Octet music.
With the exception of outstanding newcomer Nadim Teimoori (who played in Stan’s last quartet) and pianist Steve Melling, the group is made up of original members of the Octet who appeared on Stan’s last two recordings.
This Legacy Octet will perform compositions from various suites, including a selection of Stan’s later music, as well as his earlier output dating back to the early 1970s.
