Tom is in demand as a pianist of dexterity, musicality and originality. He is presenting a new series of arrangements and compositions imagining a return voyage of the ship that features as the protagonist in Herbie Hancock's seminal 1964 recording 'Maiden Voyage'. Tom says, "This was a hugely influential recording for me, and the first time I heard some of the sounds that I'd come across in some of my favourite composers brought to life in a jazz environment. There was such a sense of space and colour in the language; just the sound of the chords captivated me. I wrote a series of arrangements to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the music for a gig at the 606 in 2014. We played some of the arrangements with Treehouse on tour in 2015 and new ideas kept on coming!" Working with improvising jazz musicians, singer-songwriters and solo his performances have ranged from the Southbank Centre, Ronnie Scotts, Kings Place and numerous London Jazz Festival appearances to Jazz clubs across the country and abroad. He was winner of the Nottingham International Jazz Piano Competition in 2014, and released his first trio album as leader with European Jazz label CAM Jazz in 2015. His playing has featured on radio stations from BBC Radio 3 to Jazz FM as well as Italian, French and other European national Radio stations.
