"This album [Brother Raymond], his first in four years, involves 14 musicians on the current British jazz scene, making up the ever-changing membership of his Allstar 6tet. Each one gets a chance to shine somewhere in these 11 Toussaint compositions, and always in just the right setting."  Guardian **** Review

"Jean Toussaint is a major figure on the UK jazz scene, both as a performer and educator, and this storming release sees him heading up a variety of sextet line-ups drawn from both the established and the rising generations of UK jazz musicians."  Jazz Views review

Jean Toussaint Sextet - Brother Raymond

Building on the success of his 2015 tribute to drum legend Art Blakey Roots and Herbs, former Jazz Messenger Jean Toussaint presents his most ambitious and exciting work to date, Brother Raymond, a daring suite of original compositions and arrangements, penned by Toussaint and Jason Rebello. The music builds on the legacy of Blakey, remaining faithful to the spirit of the music while bringing Toussaint’s own personal stamp, built on a 35-year career at the forefront of modern jazz.

Byron Wallen (trumpet) Dennis Rollins (trombone) Jean Toussaint (tenor) Andrew McCormack (piano) Daniel Casimir (bass) Shane Forbes (drums)
