Jim Mullen is a truly original voice in contemporary jazz guitar. He has appeared at the Bonington many times, both as leader and as a sideman. His distinctive guitar style has been in demand with visiting US stars such as Mose Allison and Jimmy Witherspoon and UK greats such as Georgie Fame and Claire Martin. The other members of the band have appeared with many of the best musicians in the world, from Allan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin to Dave Liebman and Courtney Pine. In the late 1990s and early 2000s the Jim Mullen Quartet produced five CDs: We Go Back (1996), Live In Glasgow (1997), Burns (2000), Animation (2001), Somewhere In The Hills (2002). The band has reunited for a one-off tour, including three nights at Ronnie Scotts and the Southport Jazz Festival.
