Julie Sassoon/Tom Arthurs Trio
A fantastic double bill of diverse parts. Solo pianist Julie Sassoon plays with raw instinct and emotional commitment which may be compared to Keith Jarrett but "possesses spiritual depth and a special lyricism entirely of its own." (John Fordham). Tom Arthurs' piano-less trio comprises the leader on trumpet and flugelhorn, Jasper Høiby on bass, drummer Stuart Ritchie and features the trio's wide-open, fresh and intensely rhythmic original compositions.
