Enrico Rava (trumpet) Stefano Bollani (piano)
Italians Rava and Bollani have ben playing together since the early 1990s, and more recently have collaborated on the albums Easy Living and Tati. Winner of the 2007 European Jazz Prize, Bollani has cemented his reputation further since his Solo Piano CD was named Best Album of 2006 in Italy's Jazz Musica. Rava describes him as "perhaps the most gifted pianist since Art Tatum", Bollani in turn, hails internationally renowned Rava as his mentor. Their current CD The Third Man was released in October to enthusiastic reviews, two master improvisers making freely lyrical jazz together - inspired by jazz history, South American music, the Italian song tradition, and contemporary composition.
