Zoe Rahman (Piano) Idris Rahman (Clarinet) Oli Hayhurst (Bass) Gene Calderazzo (Drums) Kuljit Bhamra (Percussion)
Outstanding pianist Zoe Rahman has been increasingly drawn to her Bengali heritage and inspired by her father's cassette collection of Bengali folk, film and popular music from the 1950s. Working with her clarinet playing brother Idris, they have created jazz-inspired interpretations of Bengali music, offering a unique new form of Anglo-Asian music. Backed by regular trio members Oli Hayhurst (bass) and Gene Calderazzo (drums), they are also joined by percussionist Kuljit Bhamra, conjuring atmospheric, lyrical pieces that have a simple haunting beauty.
