Hans Koller is probably more widely known as a composer/arranger for big bands such as NDR Big Band, WDR Big Band, BBC Big Band, and leader of his own large groups. He is joined by French saxophonist Theberge, who has worked with Frank Sinatra, Red Rodney, and The Glenn Miller Orchestra through to cerebral improvisors like Tom Harrell and Archie Shepp. Both Hans and François have worked with Steve Lacy and Kenny Wheeler, two of their main influences, and their own music is characterised by an exciting sense of freedom and attention to melody and groove, playing highly-nuanced compositions capped with superlative soloing.
