After their explosive debut at the Bonington last January, Empirical have had a phenomenal year. A smash hit at Glastonbury, winners of the EBU/European Jazz Competition at 2007's North Sea Jazz Festival, playing opposite Joshua Redman at the London Jazz Festival, and ending the year with their eponymous first album voted top album of the year by Jazzwise. This high energy quintet is dedicated to developing its own style of contemporary jazz with a definite finger on the pulse of the contemporary world.
