After his recent Eric Dolphy project, Chris Biscoe celebrates two seminal albums from 1957, Miles Ahead and Monk's Music. While the Gil Evans arranged Miles Ahead demonstrates the eclectic choice of material which Miles pursued throughout his career, but always imbued with his own spirit, Monk's Music remains quintessentially Monkish, an in depth exploration oh his own idiosyncratic universe. The sounds of the 50s updated for the 21st century.
