The music starts from melody but is bluesy and atmospheric, incorporating multi-layers of flutes and saxes improvised live. The band sound includes hand-made gong sculptures and the soulful Hammond organ of Pete Whitakker. The band also features the soaring guitar of Mike Outram, the finest guitarist of his generation, and the subtle drums and percussion of Roy Dodds, a master of light and shade.
The group is led by Theo Travis, who has an international reputation from his playing with Soft Machine Legacy, Gong, Robert Fripp, Palle Mikkelborg, Slim Gaillard, Tony Coe, John Etheridge, Anja Garbarek, Liz Fletcher and Jim Mullen, as well as his seven solo albums, regular jazz touring and eclectic range of collaborations on over 70 CDs. He is also one of Britain's most acclaimed straight-ahead jazz tenor saxophonists.
