East Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra born in 2003 has seen some phenomenal successes
Since its conception 140"kids" have registered, (all ages and ability) with an enthusiasm
to play jazz generated (in no small part) by the tutors led by its musical director Jon Eno
This is the future of jazz and with the talent already produced Josh Blackmore,Julien Hepple, John Bailey, George Hogg, Ron Greenwood (to name but a few) plus the many studying at prestigious music colleges throughout the country it is no wonder that they have international and national recognition for outstanding service to jazz education.
In 2006 they played an ambassadorial role in a conference for Jazz educators in Los Angeles they have been invited back in 2008 to perform again in Toronto. With a place booked in the 2007 London Jazz festival this is evidently a band of exceptional quality.
.It is our pleasure to feature them to the people of East Midlands with theirs and our favourite saxophonist Alan Barnes
NOT TO BE MISSED
