Artie Fishel & The Promised Band
Featuring Gilad Atzmon (aka Artie Fishel) saxophone, John Turville (aka McGoy Tyner), Kobi Israelite (aka Selim Dion) accordion and vocal, Yaron Stavi (aka Jacko Pastrami) and Asaf Sirkis (aka Peter Foreskine).
Atzmon introduces us to his crazy alter ego Fishel - a lunatic, renowned klezmoroligist, an ethno musicologist, a master of reinvention, as well as a saxophonist who brings jazz back home to the ghettoes of Eastern Europe. Expect twisted Klezmerised Be Bop, radical reworkings of standards and even drum and bass all with Atzmon and Fishel's high musicality. A musical circus that draws on Fishel's love of jazz, Zappa and bagels - the Promised Band have to be seen to be believed.
