Note that at 3.45-5.15 on the same day Dorian Lynskey will be talking about the history of protest music, from Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" to Fela Kuti and Gil Scott Heron by way of Bob Dylan and The Clash

Gwyneth Herbert - The Sea Cabinet

This UK tour is a beautiful, intricate exploration of the sea in all its magic, majesty and mystery. Developed during an artist residency at Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh (the home of Benjamin Britten), it is a unique multi-sensory,multi-layered song-cycle drawing on the area’s violent and beautiful coastline, inspired by stormy morning walks, midnight dips and rumsoaked lock-ins.

Gwyneth’s mini orchestra features world-class musicians and a wondrous array of instruments, voices and sampled field recordings, creating a wild and unpredictable ocean of sound.

Tickets: £12.50

Peter Vacher's talk forms part of a day of free talks as part of Lowdham Book Festival - though this is the only jazz one!
